Elle Márjá Vars

Elle Márjá Vars (b. 1957) is a writer of both prose and poetry, has served as a journalist and editor, and is a central figure in the cultural life of the North Sámi people. She places special emphasis on the need for high-quality literature for younger readers of North Sámi. Elle Márjá Vars has written several novels for young adults in which she tackles difficult problems such as sexuality, religion, and strife within the Sámi community. One such book is The Most Beautiful Dawn.
